Dr. Domenico Calcaterra: A Guide to His Life and Work
Since then, Domenico Calcaterra md has served as the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Hennepin County Medical Center (January 2015–2017), an Assistant Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine (2012–2014), an Assistant Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Iowa College of Medicine (2008–2012), and the Director of the Aortic Surgery Program at the University of Iowa College of Medicine (2008–2012).
Dr Domenico Calcaterra has an extensive academic background and is board-certified in multiple areas of cardiac surgery. State medical boards in Minnesota, Florida, Indiana, and Iowa all granted him their approval. In 1998, he passed the necessary exams to become a doctor in the United States. In 2004, he completed a fellowship in Advanced Trauma Operative Management, and in 2005, he completed a fellowship in Fundamental Critical Care Support. He first became Board Certified in General Surgery in 2005 and then in Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2007. It wasn’t until 2010 that he was accepted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
