Fixed Vane Pumps -Design Of Sliding Vane Pump
The vane vane pump design combines low cost, high reliability and easy maintenance. The operating principle is simple. The slotted rotor is eccentrically supported in the cycloid cam. The rotor is placed close to the cam wall, thus forming a crescent-shaped cavity. Two side plates seal the rotor to the cam. The gap between the rotor and the side plate depends on the model and is eight to one tenth of an inch. Blades (also called blades) slide in and out of the rotor slots to seal the space between the rotor, cam and side plates. The liquid enters the crescent-shaped pump cavity through the hole in the cam. The blade sweeps the fluid to the other side of the crescent and squeezes it through the cam’s discharge hole as the blade approaches the point of the crescent.
In order for the vane pump to work properly, the vanes must always contact the cam wall to form a tight seal. The centrifugal force provides some force to actuate the blade, but the force itself is insufficient. The hydraulic force exerted by the pumped liquid tends to push the blades back into the rotor. Typically, this is achieved by determining the discharge pressure under the blade through a slit in the side plate or a hole in the blade. Newer models, such as the Z series and PZ series, have blade/blade drivers that keep the blade/blade against the cam to maintain a better seal.
