What is clot activator made of?
SiO2 is a key component of the clot activators used in blood collection, it typically takes the form of glass or silica particles. Blood entering the tube and contacting the particles on the tube wall causes the initial activation to happen. It is vital to fully mix the blood and particles by inverting the tube five times in order to continue the activation process.
