LOW CARBON FERROCHROME FURNACE

 

The main raw materials for smelting low-carbon ferrochromium using the electro silicothermic method include chromium ore, silicon chromium alloy, and lime. Some also come with fluorite and iron scales.

 

Chromium ore should be a dry, clean lump or concentrate with a lump size of less than 50mm; Containing Cr2O3>40%, Cr2O3/ Σ FeO>2.0, phosphorus content should not exceed 0.03%. Select silicon chromium alloys with different carbon contents based on the grade of the micro carbon engraved iron smelted. When smelting low-carbon iron with a carbon content of 0.06%, the carbon content of silicon chromium alloy should be less than 0.06%; When smelting low-carbon ferrochromium with a carbon content of 0.03%, the carbon content of the silicon chromium alloy should be less than 0.03%. Silicon chromium alloy shall not contain slag, and the block size shall not exceed 15mm. Fragments less than 1mm shall be sieved out. Lime requires a CaO content greater than 88% and a phosphorus content less than 0.02%. Newly burned lime with a block size of 10-50mm should be used.
