Why PMSM Direct Drive — Not Gearbox
Most HVLS fans on the market still use an asynchronous motor paired with a gearbox to reduce shaft speed. This works, but it introduces energy losses at the gearbox, requires gear oil changes every 200–300 operating hours, generates noise from two sources (motor excitation and gear mesh), and adds bulk and weight to the motor assembly.A PMSM direct drive motor eliminates the gearbox entirely. The permanent magnets in the rotor generate a constant magnetic field without excitation current — removing excitation losses at the source.
