PSC Turning Holder

What Is a PSC Turning Holder?

A PSC Turning Holder utilizes the Polygonal Shank Coupling (PSC) interface — a precision toolholding connection defined under ISO 26623. Unlike conventional toolholders that rely mainly on a conical taper to seat the tool in the spindle, PSC toolholders combine a polygonal taper with face contact. This dual‑surface interface creates a rigid, self‑centering, and repeatable connection between the holder and the machine spindle.

The result is improved rigidity, torque transmission, and vibration resistance, which leads to more stable cutting, better surface finish, and tighter dimensional control.

The Modular PSC Turning Holder available from Xiray Tools expands on this concept by offering a flexible system with interchangeable heads suited to a variety of turning operations such as grooving, threading, and profiling.
